It’s been a lovely couple of months with some very interesting projects undertaken. I am continued to be impressed by what is possible using cleft wood and hand tools. Below are some photos of the most recent projects:
Gates and Picket Fence
These gates and picket fence were made to replace an old fence that was past it’s best. The wood is ash from Pengelli Forest.
The owner of this lovely campsite near Abermawr wanted their campers to have easier access to a footpath over this stone bank. This simple ash ‘ladder’ is strong but light so it can be easily stored during the winter months.
This was a really fun little project and a lesson in accuracy. The drawer handles had to be a match to the original (darker one in photos). Getting the size and subtle curves accurate with hand tools was tricky but really satisfying.
If you have an idea for a project that you think might suit greenwood then please feel free to get in touch.
