Craft Courses – winter / spring 2024 – 2025

Why come on one of my craft courses?

Firstly an introduction. I’m David and I have had a real love of working with wood for the last 12 years or so. In particular I love working green wood (wood that is relatively freshly felled) using traditional tools and techniques. Sharing the knowledge I’ve gained with others brings me great pleasure, and I’ve been doing so for the last 10 years. With courses ranging from one day spoon carving to a 6 month woodland skills course. By coming on one of my courses you will get the following:

  • A relaxed learning environment where students can learn at their own pace.
  • Excellent instructor to student ratios so you always have as much or as little instructor time as you feel you need.
  • Quality, really sharp tools and quality wood that is great to carve. There is nothing more deflating for your confidence than working with blunt tools or poor quality wood.
  • There’s always plenty of refreshments (a full lunch is provided on the one day spoon carving course).
  • The venues are carefully chosen to provide the best possible experience for the course. Current courses are at:
    • Coppicewood College – A beautiful woodland skills centre based out of Pengelli Forest, 100 acre oak woodland in Pembrokeshire West Wales. It’s a wonderful purpose built venue.
    • Trove – a wonderful craft cafe in Fishguard.

If something takes your fancy but you have further questions then please feel free to get in touch.
